The following press release was received by Home in Henderson by authority of Henderson Police Chief Glen Allen:

At 11:05 p.m. on Monday night, January 23, 2006, medical responders and Henderson police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Hamilton Street upon report of a man down in the roadway. The victim, an adult man, was found to be unresponsive in the street. An ambulance transported the victim to Maria Parham Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The preliminary investigation tends to indicate that the victim had injuries from an unknown source. Investigators remained at the scene overnight and are treating the case in the same manner as a homicide.

At this time, we are withholding the identity of the man pending notification of his next of kin.

Police detectives and a forensics specialist were joined by agents of the State Bureau of Investigation and are continuing with an active investigation. Anyone who may have information in this case is asked to contact the police.

Additional information will be released when appropriate.
