Committee created on youth curfew issue
A public hearing meant to gauge public opinion regarding a petition received from Candice Cash in favor of a youth curfew in Henderson led to the Henderson City Council forming a study committee on the issue at last night’s meeting.
Tuesday’s open line
Well, the Henderson City Council took the bait last night and opted to voice it’s opinion regarding the naming of the Western Outer Loop. In a unanimous vote (with council member Bernard Alston absent from last night’s meeting), the members opted for Option B, which entails naming the section of the Loop from Graham Avenue to Old Oxford Road after Tiny Broadwick, and the segment from Old Oxford Road to Old County Home Road after Martin Luther King. Land Planning discusses county offer
Editor’s note: This report was assembled from a recording of the meeting. The Land Planning and Development Committee, chaired by Henderson City Council member Bobby Gupton, met on October 17. In addition to Gupton, members Lonnie Davis and Garry Daeke were present and the meeting, as well as City Manager Jerry Moss and Code Compliance Officer Corey Williams.

County doesn’t want Armory
In a last counterproposal to all of the scenarios the City of Henderson and the County of Vance have been slinging at each other in recent weeks, Vance County offered an even trade of the Armory for the old library on Rose Avenue.
