Thanksgiving attempted rape and kidnapping arrest


On Thursday, November 23, at approximately 7:45 a.m., the Henderson Police Department investigated a second degree kidnapping and attempted rape of a 33 year old female victim.

The incident occurred at a vacant house located at the three hundred block of Main Street.

The suspect, Morris Raye Jefferys, age 46, of 509 Bobbitt Street, Henderson, was arrested without incident and charged by Officer A. Hawkins. Jefferys was charged with second degree kidnapping and attempted first degree forceful sexual offense.

The suspect was placed in the Vance County Jail with $150,000 secured bond.

The case is still under investigation.
