Sidwell sworn in as newest HPD chief

Keith Sidwell was sworn in as the Henderson Police Department’s latest police chief Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.

Sidwell took the oath of office from Henderson City Clerk Dianne White on the second floor of the relatively new Henderson Police Department building. He stood in front of a window overlooking the new H. Leslie Perry Memorial Library in the department’s Administrative Services division.

The ceremony was attended by several Henderson City Council members, City Manager Jerry Moss, Fire Chief Danny Wilkerson, as well as city personnel and police officers.

Sidwell’s wife, Bambi, and her mother also attended.

Unlike previous chiefs, Sidwell chose to wear a standard duty uniform rather than the white shirt generally preferred by chiefs of police.

After the swearing-in, Sidwell spoke briefly to those assembled. Among other remarks, he said he would ride with officers in order to learn Henderson.
