A draft of the Youth Protection Ordinance obtained by Home in Henderson may be viewed here.
It is unknown at what point this document was generated. The version presented at the forum tomorrow may have slight or wide divergences from the draft presented here.
The draft differs from the presentation made by the Reverend Frank Sossamon during the regular Henderson City Council meeting of January 22, 2007. In that meeting, Sossamon stated that the hours of restriction were 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday through Saturday. In this draft, however, the hours of restriction are given as 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day of the week.
In an email distribed by the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce, of which Home in Henderson is a member, it was noted that the hours of restriction presented by Sossamon on January 22, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday through Saturday, may significantly affect businesses that provide entertainment to youth.
The correspondence also notes that restaurants may also be impacted by limited business on Friday nights after athletic events. The email goes on to suggest that an 11:00 p.m. curfew on Friday and Saturday nights would allow youth to frequent eating establishments and still be home by 11:00 p.m.
