Crime information alert: ATM & deposits
Lt. Irvin Robinson of the Henderson Police Department has issued an Area Crime Information Alert regarding the use of ATMs and night deposits at local banks.
County extends fire insurance districts to six miles

Etheridge reacts to Bush’s Farm Bill proposal
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington), the Chairman of the General Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittee of the Agriculture Committee, reacted to the Bush Administration’s Farm Bill proposal on Wednesday with caution and expressed hope that the Congress and Administration could work together to develop a sound agriculture policy.

K. Rowling’s books that began the whole Harry Potter craze that are getting limelight: more specifically, book seven–the last Harry Potter book ever–entitled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Closings and delays
Vance County Schools will be closed for students, faculty, and staff on Thursday, February 1, 2007 due to anticipated inclement weather. Also closed are Franklin-Vance-Warren Head Start, Vance-Granville Community College, Victory Christian School, Crossroads Christian School, Vance Charter School, and Kerr-Vance Academy. County schools consider longer elementary day
At a recent principal’s meeting, the leadership of Vance County Schools discussed extending the school day for elementary schools by one-half hour.

In 2004-05, Vance County Schools’ dropout rate was 7.52 percent. During the last school year, it was 8.26 percent.
