HVEP to meet and discuss econ. dev. overhaul
The Henderson-Vance Economic Partnership is scheduled to meet on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. at the Vance County Schools’ Administrative Services Center on Graham Avenue. Slated for discussion is a report from county commissioners regarding the proposed reorganization of the partnership and the Economic Development Commission with the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce.
State Board of Ed. highlights
At their October meeting, board members approved cut scores for the new end-of-grade tests in reading and science that were first used in 2007-08 and end-of-course tests in physical science, biology, chemistry and physics, changes to the 2007-08 ABCs/AYP results, the 2008 Textbook Adoption and Textbook Commission Report, and an update to the Policy on Interscholastic Athletics.

Thursday’s open line
As the editor of Home in Henderson, I get a fair share of telephone calls and emails that can safely be called “spin control” on various issues, usually local. As we move into the final phase of the presidential election, however, instead of the usual emails, I’ve been getting links to YouTube videos that endorse/detract both candidates. I shudder to think how many political opinions are being formed by two minute videos.
