City seeks applicants for free sewer hook-up

Assistant City Manager Frank Frazier told the Henderson City Council on Monday night that he hopes The Daily Dispatch will provide coverage to get “a few more applicants” for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) money for sewer hook-ups.

The funds are currently available for low-to-moderate income homeowners and landlords, provided that the landlords are themselves low-to-moderate income.

According to Frazier, a sewer hook-up can cost $3,000 to $4,000.

There are twelve applications in hand with the city, with eight that Frazier is sure will qualify.

Council member Garry Daeke asked if those who did not hook up during the last annexation at the offered reduced rate could now take advantage of the program. Frazier said that it was possible.

City Manager Ray Griffin said that city staff is supportive of “bringing outside dollars in to help us achieve goals”.
