From the HPD: Social security number phishing scam

This from Lt. Irvin Robinson of the Henderson Police Department:

For the past several days, numerous individuals in the city have received telephone calls from someone stating claiming to work with one of the banks in Henderson.

The caller tells the resident someone has made some transactions on their account and then asks for the last four numbers of the person’s social security number to verify the account.

The caller then requests the other five numbers.

This is a con to obtain your social security number. Area banks will not call and ask for personal information over the telephone.

The Henderson Police Department is asking anyone who receives a telephone call asking for information about their bank account to contact the department at 252.438.4141.
