To the editor: Edwards outlines his platform

Because I have now filed as a candidate for the Ward 2 seat on the Henderson City Council, I feel it is appropriate to issue a statement outlining my goals and general “platform”.

Unfortunately, my computer is out for replacement of it’s power supply and I am not very comfortable or proficient using this borrowed lap top.

Hopefully, I will be “back on line” by Wednesday.

My goal is to be elected as the Ward 2 City Council person so that I can bring a new voice into Henderson’s City Government. Given the fact that I lived in another region of the country as well as gained extensive management experience in a large manufacturing facility, I believe I can work with whoever is elected to represent the other wards to move Henderson forward in a united direction where the good of all the citizens will be the only agenda.

My platform is simple. Work with other Council Members and the Mayor to take serious and meaningful action to reduce crime in Henderson, immediately! In concert with this, I will continue to follow my “watch dog” instinct and vote for only those proposals that are fiscally responsible. In particular, I will not be party to expenditures that do not make business sense.

Most importantly, I will cast each vote after seeking input from those citizens that desire to be heard because I firmly believe that government is by the people, for the people and answerable to the people.
