Arson at Henderson Middle School


On February 26, 2010 around 9:17 a.m. units with the Henderson Fire Department were dispatched to Henderson Middle School, 219 Charles Street, in reference to signs of smoke.

Upon the arrival by fire units, numerous points of origins were located and extinguished. Fires were set in an unused part of the school.

The Henderson Arson Task Force was activated to conduct the investigation.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that a group of students had participated in the setting of the fires.

Six juveniles were taken into secured custody by Juvenile Services and were placed in a secure juvenile facility pending a juvenile hearing. Additional juveniles may be charged in this case.

The Henderson Arson Task Force consists of fire personnel and investigators from the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
