Search warrants net pot, guns, stolen goods

Chief K. L. Sidwell reports that members of the Henderson Police Department’s Narcotics Unit conducted multiple search warrants at the addresses of 2209 and 2215 Oxford Road in Henderson North Carolina.

The investigation was initiated due to citizen complaints of drug activity located at the 2215 Oxford Road address.

The search warrants were executed on February 25, 2010.

The search warrant at the address of 2215 Oxford Road yielded an indoor marijuana grove with approximately ten mature marijuana plants. The street value of the plants, if harvested, would be approximately $100,000. Stolen merchandise was also located, including a Sanyo flat panel television, a Mitsubishi big screen television, and a Dell computer.

After an investigation of the stolen items, it was determined that the merchandise was taken in various breaking and enterings located in Vance County. Members of the Vance County Sheriff’s Office’s Detective Division were contacted in reference to the found property.

A Tech 9mm assault pistol and SKS assault rifle were also recovered.

Based on the evidence located inside the residence at 2215 Oxford Road, a second search warrant was obtained for the address of 2209 Oxford Road. The two residences are adjacent to one another, and both are owned by members of the same family. Located in the 2209 Oxford Road residence was a Toshiba flat panel television stolen from a breaking and entering in Vance County. Also recovered at the residence was a bullet-proof vest.

The investigation tends to show that all of the stolen merchandise was purchased at local convenience stores that the suspects own in the Henderson/Vance County area. The investigation is continuing and more arrests are pending.
