Etheridge votes against congressional COLA

Washington, D.C. -— U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) released the following statement on his vote in support of H.R. 5146, a bill designating that Members of Congress shall not receive a cost of living increase in pay during fiscal year 2011 which passed the House today by a vote of 402-15:

“The economy is finally starting to create jobs again, but too many folks in North Carolina still can’t find work. Middle class families are tightening their belts, and Congress should do the same. I will continue to vote against pay raises for Senators and Representatives and keep working on common sense solutions to create jobs and put our economy back on track for average working folks.”
