County committees to meet Sept. 30 & Oct. 4
The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ General Government Committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. The Planning/Environmental Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, October 4, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. The Human Resources Committee will also meet on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. All of the above meetings will be in the County Manager’s Office. That office is located in the County Administration Building, 122 Young Street in Henderson, North Carolina.

Council resolves to meet on joint funding policy
After two hours of presentations and discussion at yesterday’s work session, members of the Henderson City Council agreed to schedule a meeting to discuss developing a policy on programs funded jointly with Vance County.
Arrest made for murder of Jamario Neal
On September 24, 2010 around 11:00 p.m. officers with the Henderson Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to The Variety and Tobacco Mart located on E. Andrews Avenue in Henderson, North Carolina in reference to a subject who had allegedly been shot.

Council approves last year of Weed & Seed grant
The Weed & Seed Executive Committee stood before the Henderson City Council on Monday evening and asked members to pass a resolution to accept the program’s fifth and final year of funding.

100 rolling garbage cans stolen
Public Works Director Linda Leyen reported to the Henderson City Council on Monday evening that 100 of the new rolling garbage cans have been stolen since privatization of solid waste removal was enacted this past summer.
