Etheridge statement on small business bill signing

Washington, D.C. -— U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) today issued the following statement on the President’s signing of the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act:

“This is good news for North Carolina’s workers and small businesses. This new law will help small businesses on Main Street and create jobs.

“As a former small businessman, I know that small businesses are the engine of our economy, creating two-thirds of the new jobs over the last 15 years. I also know how tough it is when credit dries up. Loans are harder to get, bills are harder to pay, paychecks are harder to cut, and investments are harder to make. That is why I worked to pass this bill, and I am pleased that small businesses in North Carolina now have access to the $30 billion lending fund and $12 billion in tax cuts in the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act. Tax cuts and credit are the tools small businesses need to create jobs and fuel our economy.”
