Riddick is currently on unpaid administrative suspension pending the outcome of an internal departmental investigation.

The Henderson Police Department was notified by a local business owner on October 4, 2010, at 4:34 p.m. A report was immediately taken and an investigation ensued. The investigation yielded sufficient evidence identifying Riddick as the perpetrator.

A meeting was held today with District Attorney Sam Currin and investigators from the NC State Bureau of Investigations.

Riddick is charged with one count of felony larceny and three counts of misdemeanor larceny. Bond was set at $10,000.

With the announcement of the arrest and charges against Riddick, Henderson Police Chief Keith Sidwell wrote that the Henderson Police Department takes allegations of officer malfeasance and misconduct very seriously. He went on to say that if allegations are substantiated through investigation, aggressive prosecution of violators will be immediate.

“The public trust of the Henderson Police Department has been fractured by this criminal behavior. As Chief of Police, I would ask our citizens to stand by the officers of this department and lend their support in this difficult time. We at the Henderson Police Department will do everything possible to maintain the public trust,” Sidwell stated in the release.
