HPD stolen vehicle pursuit ends in crash
On November 26, 2010 around 6:38 a.m., Officer D. Ragland with the Henderson Police Department was patrolling the area of N. Cooper Drive near Walmart in Henderson when he located a 2002 Honda Civic driving with its headlights off.
A nightmare before Christmas?
This picture was taken at the very crowded Henderson Walmart shortly after 12:01 a.m. today. Black Friday started as soon as possible this year as retailers hope to pull out of the current economic slump. At Walmart, customers were queuing up before 1:00 a.m. to wait for deeply discounted laptop computers and flat-screen televisions, among other items, to go on sale at 5:00 a.m.
Friday/weekend open line
My second job ever (third if being a paperboy counts) was selling luggage at a department store that doesn’t exist anymore. We called the day after Thanksgiving “Black Friday” because we knew we would be working sixteen hours and hustling our butts off. How it came into common parlance I’ll never understand. Council balks at awarding no-bid sewer contract
The Henderson City Council chose not to award a full contract for sewer rehabilitation to the engineering firm of O’Brien & Gere during Monday’s regular meeting.

Henderson Xmas tree lighting Nov. 30
Henderson Mayor Pete O’Geary announced at the most recent meeting of the Henderson City Council that a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at Memorial Part on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. Memorial Park is located at the intersection of Charles and Garnett Streets on the west side of the railroad underpass. According to the mayor, there will be choirs, fellowship, and “lots of Christmas spirit”.

Beacon Light demo moving forward
Mayor Pete O’Geary announced at the beginning of Monday evening’s Henderson City Council meeting that the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) had informed him in a conference call that it will sign and send a memo of understanding to the city that will allow for the demolition of the former Beacon Light Apartments complex.
