Wray elected Dem. caucus whip

Raleigh -– The Democratic Caucus of the North Carolina House of Representatives has unanimously elected Rep. Michael Wray to the position of whip.

Rep. Wray will be one of five whips in the caucus. They will help lead floor debate in the chamber and also help guide the direction of caucus activities, along with the caucus minority leader and deputy minority leader.

“I am grateful to my fellow Democrats for having faith in me to help lead our caucus,” Rep. Wray said. “We have a lot of work ahead to try to protect education in our state and make sure there are good economic policies in place. We intend to fight hard for the things we believe in and we need a good team in place to do that.”

Rep. Wray is a small business owner entering his fourth term representing Northampton, Vance and Warren counties. He is a former chairman of the Insurance Committee and vice chairman of the Wildlife Resources Committee and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Natural and Economic Resources.
