Officer Daryl Ragland had a very successful month in December of 2010.

During this month he made two felony arrests through observation and twelve on-view misdemeanor arrests. He also served seven warrants. He investigated 31 incidents and motor vehicle collisions. He wrote eighteen North Carolina Uniform Citations and answered 74 calls for service.

During the month of December, Officer Ragland responded to a larceny call at Belk’s Department Store. Upon arrival, it was discovered that William Hundley allegedly had removed the anti-theft device from a pair of earrings and went out the door. Following Ragland’s investigation of the incident and the arrest of Hundley, the suspect was placed in the Vance County Jail under a $5,000 bond.

On December 31, 2010, Ragland responded to an assault call at 517 Daniel Street where he discovered Johnny Royster had been assaulted with a bottle and had a laceration to his face. Officer Ragland found the suspect inside the residence and arrested Michael Kelly for the assault. Michael Kelly was charged with assault inflicting serious injury.

Officer Ragland began his career in law enforcement with the Henderson Police Department in January of 2010 and graduated rom Basic Law Enforcement Training at Vance-Granville Community College. Since that time, he has been assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division. Officer Ragland is a native of Franklin County. He is also an EMT-B with Louisburg Rescue.
