HPD arrests one of “Henderson’s Most Wanted”


On January 25, 2011 members of the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division arrested Miguel Burt, 17, of 237 Gary Street in Henderson for robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by felon.

Burt was also served with a process for felony probation violation.

Burt’s arrest was related to a robbery that occurred in the 1500 block of Maple Street in Henderson on January 20, 2011. During the robbery, a handgun was pointed at the victim and U.S. currency, two cans of beer, a pack of cigarettes, and bottle of Coca Cola were taken from the victim. After further investigation conducted by detectives, it was determined that Miguel Burt was the suspect in the robbery.

Burt received a $65,000 secured bond and remains in the Vance County Jail pending a court hearing on February 7, 2011.

On April 9, 2011, Burt was arrested and charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, and possession of stolen goods. These charges stemmed from the breaking and entering at 425 Mason Street in Henderson on February 18, 2010. During the breaking and entering, numerous electronic items were taken. Upon further investigation by members of the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, it was determined that Burt was one of the suspects. Burt was listed as one of Henderson’s Most Wanted on the Henderson Police Department website. Burt received a $63,500 secured bond and remained in the Vance County Jail pending a court hearing on April 20th, 2010.
