On Monday, February 7, 2011, officers with the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division responded to 618 McBorne Street to conduct a follow-up investigation.
Safe Kids Monthly: Burn Awareness Week
Each year 465 children ages fourteen and under die due to unintentional fire or burn related injuries with children age three and younger at the greatest risk.

School board to hold called meeting today
The Vance County Board of Education will hold a special called meeting today, Monday, February 14, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. for the purpose of conducting an executive session. The special meeting will be held at the Administrative Services Center, 1724 Graham Avenue in Henderson, North Carolina. The regular monthly meeting of the board will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the same location.
March county commission meeting changed to 14th
The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ regular monthly meeting for March of 2011 has been rescheduled by a resolution of the board from March 7, 2011 to March 14, 2011. The meeting will be held at the usual place and time: the County Administration Building, 122 Young Street in Henderson, North Carolina at 6:00 p.m.
Butterfield urges action on federal jobs program
Washington, D.C. -– Congressman G. K. Butterfield urged his colleagues earlier this week to extend a federal program that helps workers displaced by changes in the global economy.
Notes on 2-7-11 county commission meeting
by Michael Bobbitt Mike Bradford presented the 2009 – 2010 audit report for Vance County. He noted it was unqualified, which for everyone means there were no significant issues that would have qualified the report.
Sweetheart’s Breakfast Feb. 12
There will be a Sweetheart’s Breakfast at the Liberty Christian Church on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The cost is $6 per person. The menu includes eggs, grits, bacon, sausage, homemade biscuits, coffee, and juice. The Liberty Christian Church is located on NC 39 South in the Epsom Community of Vance County.
