HPD receives fourth CALEA award

Chief of Police Keith L. Sidwell is pleased to announce that on March 26th 2011, the Henderson Police Department received its fourth award from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. This award recognizes twelve years of continuous compliance with all mandated standards set forth by the Commission.

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) visited the Henderson Police Department in December 2010 to examine all aspects of the Henderson Police Department’s policies and procedures, administration, operations, and support services. Verification by the team that the Henderson Police Department meets CALEA’s state-of-the art standards was part of a voluntary process to maintain international accreditation, a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.

The Henderson Police Department presented documentation and proofs showing compliance with both mandated and optional standards to maintain accreditation status. In addition to the on-site visit by assessors, Chief Keith L. Sidwell and Captain Marcus W. Barrow (agency accreditation manager for this three year period) appeared before CALEA Commissioners on March 26, 2011 at the CALEA Conference in Bethesda, Maryland for the final re-accreditation review. Following a vote of the full CALEA Commission, the Henderson Police Department was awarded full accreditation for the next three years.
