Vermont became the first state to lay the groundwork for single-payer health care on Thursday when its governor signed an ambitious bill aimed at establishing universal insurance coverage for all residents. Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin said “Here’s our challenge. Our premiums go up 10, 15, 20 percent a year. This is true in the rest of the country as well. They are killing small business. They’re killing middle-class Americans, who have been kicked in the teeth over the last several years. What our plan will do is create a single pool, get the insurance company profits, the pharmaceutical company profits, the other folks that are mining the system to make a lot of money on the backs of our illnesses, and ensure that we’re using those dollars to make Vermonters healthy.”
Here’s the weekend open line, enjoy!
I see that Eric Williams has been terminated from Smithfield over pay raises that were not approved by the city council. I wonder how much similar stuff went on during his tour here.
Forgot to post the link to my source, sorry.

That’s 3 places then? Henderson, Yadkin County and now Smithfield? You can do a search on our site for past articles on Home in Henderson concerning him by searching for “Eric Williams” in quotes. A link is here: http://homeinhenderson.com/?s=%22eric+williams%22
I hope everyone has a fantastic Memorial Day Weekend!! God Bless those who have served America past and present. Thank you!
As for Vermont, it’s a different sort of take in hopes of combating a hugh national problem. Insurance costs have good higher and higher (a la gasoline) while offering less coverage than before. Health insurance for those working for the state while it still is a viable perk, it certainly is not what it used to be. Sometimes I think goats really are working for BCBS….
There’s been a number of vehicle break-ins and property theft in our neighborhood lately. Last week, our vehicle was broken into and a surveillance camera set up outside of the property was stolen. Fortunately, the camera was able to capture an image of the perp’s face before he swiped it. I have posted a link to the criminal’s image below. Any information regarding this person’s identity would be greatly appreciated and will be forwarded to the Vance County Sheriff’s office. Thank you for your help.

Hi, still looking for anyone that has had any dealings with Mariah Parham Hospital, both positive and negative, in the billing, Patient Care or Emergency Room Care. Please respond here or at my regular E mail. kyleswife06@yahoo.com. Thanks
Shouldn’t you address your comments or concerns to the hospital itself?
Vancelot1: I hope the criminal gets caught!
kathdean06, Maria Parham is commonly called the Death Star for a reason. For any medical need head south to Raleigh or south-west to Durham or Chapel Hill. Personal experience has taught me that the Death Star is sorely lacking qualified medical staff.
I’ve had many positive dealings with MPH, and 1 negative.
several negatives at Raleigh/ Durham/Chapel Hill medical centers.
