Chairman Eddie L. Wright has called a special meeting for Tuesday, June 21 at 4:30 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Conference Room, Vance County Administration Building, 122 Young Street, Henderson, NC. They plan to Hold Public Hearing for CDBG Grant Application, Adopt FY 2011-12 Budget Ordinance and Authorize Year-End Closeouts.

Did anyone attend this meeting, anyone beside the elected officials? Work kept me until after 4:30, so I arrived at the old court house around 5:30. Not a car in the parking lot or on the street. How sad if no one attended.
seems like business as usual in the good ole’ boy network in Vance County. Young people who will have to fix all the mess that the ‘boys’ have left will only be able to do so after some of the good ole’ boys start ‘kicking the bucket’. Some are up there in age so it’s just a matter of time! Just hope Vance County isn’t bankrupt by the time this occurs….
while we are on the topic of County Commissioners I’d love to hear exactly what the Chairman comes back with….All I will say on this is an interested industry was looking to make a move across the country and is introduced to the Chairman of the Vance Co. Commissioners…well let’s just say that I don’t think the Employment Security Commission need worry with the unemployment rate going down in the area! Can you read between the lines? As far as spending 10K on an across the country convention/vacation I would require all the attendees to bring back USEFUL information and not a bunch of pamphlets that they could have ordered off the internet. A good analogy would be that a “chain is only as strong as its weakest link”……in Vance County the ‘chain’ is about to break but watch and see that certain members of the ‘club’ will retire before the chain breaks. Some are already close to retirement so it just makes sense that they don’t care about the economics of the County. &%#@ some of them don’t even live in the county so why should they care?
