A Vance-Granville Community College faculty member has been promoted to lead the college’s Nursing programs. Erica L. Jastrow recently became VGCC’s Director of Nursing after having been an instructor for the college’s Associate Degree Nursing program since August 2004. In addition to the ADN program, Jastrow will oversee the Practical Nursing program and the LPN to ADN Completion Program, a relatively new option which helps Licensed Practical Nurses return to school and prepare to become Registered Nurses.
Jastrow lives in Louisburg with her husband and two young children. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2000. Jastrow later completed a master’s degree in Nursing Education at UNC-Greensboro in 2004. She has been a Registered Nurse for eleven years, with experience in Intensive Care Units and Nursing Supervision in local and teaching hospitals. At VGCC, Jastrow has served on the Academic Affairs Committee, Institutional Planning Committee, and SACS Institutional Effectiveness Committee, and is the club advisor for the VGCC chapter of the National Student Nurses’ Association.
“Erica brings to her new role a wealth of experience both as a nurse and as a member of our outstanding team of instructors, who continue to produce graduates who perform very well on their national licensure exams and then go on to successful health-care careers,” said Dr. Ray Goldberg, the college’s Dean of Health Sciences.
