It started out raining but soon cleared up to allow hundreds of people enjoy downtown activities on Saturday. Beckenridge street was turned in to a children’s playground with booths setup from area businesses and organizations. Moonwalks, face painting, rubber duck painting, all sorts of fun. Nearly 2000 ducks were raced down Garnett Street Saturday afternoon, benefiting the Franklin Granville Vance Smart Start organization.
Winners for the event were 1st prize to Jacoby Hargorve for $1000. 2nd prize was Patricia Washburn for $500. 3rd prize was J. Kearney for $250. 4th prize was Alvin Sledge for $100
