Wednesday Open Line


This evening (October 26th) at 5:30pm two commissioners will be meeting with Bearpond VFD representatives at 5:30 p.m. at the Bearpond station. As stated earlier, this will be to discuss Bearpond’s request for rent from the County.

Franklin County’s Novozymes has earned Entrepreneur Magazines the #25 spot in the country for Best Medium Businesses to Work for 2011.  Entrepreneur cites bonuses, free snacks and beverages, massages and a subsidized lunch as top perks.  841 people currently work at the Franklinton location and growing by 15% annually.  92% of employee health care premiums are paid by the company and 85% of dependent health care premiums are paid.

In other news, North Carolina will receive settlement money of about 2.2 million dollars from various health related companies including kickbacks given to drug companies for drug prescriptions and drug testing services, improper marketing and usage of drugs for unapproved uses.  You can read more about the details here.
