Notary Public training available at VGCC South Campus

A two-night course for people who want to obtain a North Carolina commission as a Notary Public will be held at Vance-Granville Community College’s South Campus, located on N.C. 56 between Creedmoor and Butner, later this month.

The class will be conducted from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22 and Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Charlene Spence will serve as the instructor.

The purpose of a notary is to prevent fraud and forgery. Students will learn what they may and may not do at a notary public. To qualify to take the course, a person must be at least 18 years old, must be able to speak and write English, must be a high school or GED graduate, and must not have been convicted of a felony under state or federal law.

The cost of the course includes a registration fee of $65, plus a $3 campus security/access fee and the cost of the textbook.

For more information and to register, call South Campus Director Derrick Cameron at (919) 528-4737 or (252) 738-3515.
