VGCC Seminar Focuses on Marketing Small Businesses


Vance-Granville Community College’s Small Business Center will present a free seminar, entitled “Marketing for the Small Business,” on Tuesday, Dec. 13. The seminar will be held from 9 a.m. until noon in room 7107 of Building 7 on the college’s main campus in Vance County.

Instructor Mike Collins of Raleigh, president of The Perfect Workday Company, leads this seminar, which will cover strategies of planning a low-cost marketing program. Collins also will identify the best types of media to use and offer tips on designing a public relations program. Participants will leave with dynamic approaches to public awareness.

Collins has a bachelor’s degree in radio, television and motion pictures from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree from Duke University. Collins presents over 100 programs a year for organizations such as IBM, American Express, Pepsi-Cola and the Duke University Medical Center. He is a member of the American Management Association, the Creative Education Foundation and the Guerrilla Marketing Association, and is certified as a “guerrilla marketing coach.”
