On Thursday, November 25 at 3:14 a.m. officers of the Henderson Police Department responded to a reported vehicle crash in the 900 block of Parker Lane. The vehicle, a 2007 Porsche Cayman was found wrecked in a wooded area off the roadway of Parker Lane. A driver was not present at the scene at the time officers arrived.
Following the officer’s investigation the owner of the vehicle, David Allen Ruggles was charged with Driving While Impaired and Carless and Reckless Driving. Ruggles was taken before a Magistrate and was released under a $1000 secured bond. Ruggles’ court date is set for January 24, 2012.
I’d like to know why wasn’t he charged with leaving the scene of an accident?
Wonder if there was damage to property–and what he blew? Just wondering.

Thanks NYNative! This is very interesting indeed. Isn’t he like the spokesperson for the hospital? This doesn’t look good to have someone of that position getting charged with a DWI, leaving the scene, etc. What is even more disturbing is that he is on the road endangering other lives with his drunk driving which includes me and my family lives, your lives and everyone else’s.

Innocent until proven guilty–I have to agree on that.
I have no sympathy for people who endanger lives by drinking and driving. All DUI cases need to be followed up by MADD–nationwide–and that is my opinion.

I am guessing he is not in the ER very often when those that have had a terrible accident due to someone drinking have been transported to the ER.

When my child was 12 he was falsely accused of sexual harrassment at the charter school. I had a meeting with this man and he told me that in the real world we are guilty until proven innocent, Those are direct words from his mouth. I had to pay a lawyer $1000 because the school secretary called me one day and said my son was suspended for sexual harrassment. he was 12 years old and no one witnessed this incident. Two girls who were picking at him decided to get him in trouble and told a teacher that he sexually harrassed them. The principle was out of town and she callled us into the office the following Monday and said he was guilty and they would not bring the two girls into this as it would be embarrassing to their familys. We had a meeting with this man and I told him you are assuming him to be guilty before innocence and he said in the real world we are really guilty until proven innocent. It is funny you should say innocent until proven guilty because that is not his philosophy. he said I could kindly take my child out of the school if I wanted. Since this school has a lottery which is questionable because certain people seem to get in without any problems I decided to keep him in only because he wanted to stay with his friends. So I am so happy that this man is an example of what goes around comes around and he is protected because he is an elite the same way he ran the school from an elitist point of view. So he deserves everything he gets. Thank You HPD

Several people were asking about this very case recently. Seems to me there was a court date sometime this month. Comments from those asking included “had it been them –they’d have been fired .”
Does anyone out there know when the court date is–. probably a continuance?!?
Above it says the court date is January 24th. My guess it will go the way most DWIs go in Vance County – continue, continue, continue, continue..dismissed…
