Wednesday Open Line

Last night, the city hosted a lighting of the official Christmas Tree in Downtown Henderson.  Attending were Mayor Pete O’Geary, Rev. Mary Anderson with the Invocation, the South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church Choir, Scripture Reading by Rev. Brenda Peace-Jenkins, First Methodist Church Choir, Statement from Downtown Development Coordinator Phil Lakernick, Musical Solo by Raynah Adams, Shiloh Baptist Church Choir, and closing statements by HVDDS Chairman Jason Stewardson.  Although not speaking or presenting, many council members from the City and County did attend the ceremony.

I took video of the event, but it will take me a few days to get it online as I have other projects to finish first.  In the meantime you can look at this pretty photo.

The House went ahead Tuesday and gave its final approval on the cap, even though the measure was dead.  (read more)

This morning is your last chance to enter our Christmas with the Embers Giveaway.  Make a comment on any article until today at noon and you’ve entered.  At noon we’ll list everyone that entered and draw a random user to win 2 tickets.  Sorry we have to have such an odd ending time, but I need to get the winner time to go pickup their tickets at the Chamber of Commerce before the concert Friday night.  Tickets are still available to purchase as well, at only $10.00 each for adults, $5.00 each for kids.  You may purchase tickets at the Chamber of Commerce.

Welcome to the Wednesday Open Lines!
