Did someone tell Tim Pegram that sleeping during Commissioners’ meetings is not leadership? District 2 is home to at least one person who has ideas and energy that will better serve the district and the county.
Eddie Wright is the wrong person to fill a seat on the Commission. The people of District 5 deserve better representation than the box of rocks currently occupying space on the County Commission.
As for the City Council, a wholesale purge of the elected officials would be a good thing. As a comedian has said, you cannot fix stupid. Toss them all out and just start over with fresh, young, and independent minds who are not co-opted with new directions, complacent with the status quo, or just willing to assume that the de ‘facto powers are an immovable force.
There’s an old but true saying. Leaders (generally) have implemented their ideas within the first 5-10 years. After that it’s just maintaining the status quo. It was never intended to be a career.
Hear Hear Out in Left Field!
Why does Gary Daeke on his Facebook page list the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party as his political view? Is that his idea of how government should be run? How many others share his
communist views?
Before you vote for any incumbent ask yourself this:What has he/she done to better the city/county? I think if all voters do this then we will have some new faces and new ideas. It’s time for the self-serving idiots to be sent a message.
Deception, I agree with your point. Based on what is thus far known the election is a slam dunk for the incumbents.
There have bee no additional filings Tuesday, what’s posted above is the total for today. Will have to see what comes in on Wednesday. Deadline to file paperwork is 12 noon Wednesday all. It must be in their hands by then, not postmarked by then. So you’ll need to deliver it directly to them.
Posted the filings that came in this morning so far, will update again as I receive information
This list now includes all the Vance County registered filers, registration is now closed!
Is this a good day bad day news story?
The bad news first no possible change in County government! Can the Board of Elections just declare that the County Commissioners were elected by acclamation and dispense with printing any kind of ballot? This would also save ink. County residents can now expect their fate; the city water pipe goes into your house regardless of the property owner’s desires.
The good news is the potential for some sand in the gears of City government. A new mayor this is good. A new 4th ward council member this is better than good. Not sure 3rd ward incumbent should be tossed to the curb. He can read, write, count to 21 without taking his shoes off, and can think on his own. Sadly not enough real change; hopefully just enough to gum up the Mis-Directed’s efforts.
Will anything change in the county schools? I seriously doubt it since (E)***** Cash keeps his seat.
Oh, well no more complaining about poor quality of leadership in government. In the words of Mr. Louis Edwards, we got what we settled for and we have settled for No Direction.
OILF, sounds like he would have to take more than his shoes off to count to 21. LOL !
Mingo, you got me on that one. LOL.
I guess I will hold my nose and vote…
For the most part, this is a sorry slate for upcoming “election”–. If that’s all who dare–why should we care–so sad, so sad.
OILF, you raised a good point (see post 10 above) on the election of the county commissioners and no one has followed up. Here is my attempt.
Madam Chairman of the Vance County Board of Elections, I would like to place the following motion on the table for discussion and a vote by Vance County Board of Elections.
Whereas, the period for registering for the 2012 election for Vance County Commissioner is now closed,
Whereas, there is a single candidate for each of the four Vance County Commissioner positions open for the 2012 election;
Whereas, no other individual(s) had an interest in serving the citizens of their district as County Commissioner;
Whereas, only the registered candidates needs to vote for themselves to win their seat (unless write-in candidates are permitted);
Whereas, it will reduce the cost of printing, counting, & verifying ballots;
Whereas, it will reduce the cacophony of electoral rhetoric;
Therefore, the Vance County Board of Election declares the candidates for the 2012 election of Vance County Commissioners as winners by acclamation.
Thank you Madam Chairman.
