Vance County Schools – Laptop Deployment Sessions


The deployments of laptop computers for high school students in Vance County Public Schools are scheduled to begin this week.

Students at the Vance County Early College High School, located on the campus of Vance-Granville Community College near Henderson, are scheduled to receive their laptops first. Early College freshmen (9th grade) and seniors (13th grade) are scheduled to attend sessions on Wednesday, August 1, at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. Those students entering grades 10-12 can attend sessions on Wednesday, August 1, at 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 4 to 7p.m. A make-up day for laptop deployment at Early College will be held on Thursday, August 2, for students who could not attend one of the sessions the previous day. On Thursday, the sessions will be held at 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.

Classes for students in grades 9-13 at Early College begin on Wednesday, August 8.

Laptop deployments for students at Southern Vance High School will include the following schedule:

  • August 7 – 9th graders and new students attend sessions at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 6 p.m. or 7 p.m.
  • August 8 – Students in grades 10-12 may attend sessions at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. or 7 p.m.
  • August 9 – Students in grades 10-12 may attend sessions at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. or 7 p.m.

Laptop deployments for students at Northern Vance High School will include the following schedule:

  • August 7 – 9th graders attend orientation session at 6 p.m. Laptop computer deployment will begin at 8 p.m.
  • August 8 – 9th graders attend orientation session at 6 p.m. Laptop computer deployment will begin at 8 p.m.
  • August 13 – Students in grades 10-12 may attend sessions at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m. or 6 p.m.
  • August 14 – Students in grades 10-12 may attend sessions at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m. or 6 p.m.

On August 23, which is the day for Open House sessions at all schools, laptop deployment make-ups will be scheduled at Southern Vance and Northern Vance high schools at 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. for those students and parents who could not attend a previous session.

All ninth-grade students and new students must attend a laptop deployment presentation at one of the scheduled times at their respective schools. Presentations begin promptly on the scheduled hour. Students and parents should arrive prior to the beginning time for the session they attend.

Returning students are not required to attend a presentation and may simply pick up their laptop computer during the scheduled sessions at their schools.
