Vance-Granville Community Band presents concert at Louisburg High

The Vance-Granville Community Band will kick off its 2012-2013 season with a concert on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in the Louisburg High School Auditorium (201 Allen Lane, Louisburg). This marks the third consecutive year that the band, which is a joint effort between VGCC students and interested citizens, will present its fall concert in Franklin County.

Admission is free.

Serving as guest director for the community band will be Jason Pulley of Henderson. Pulley, who is also the band director at Eaton-Johnson Middle School, is a native of the area who recently returned after teaching in Pitt County. He has also been involved with the Vance-Granville Community Band in the past as both a performer and a guest conductor.

Pulley said that the program will feature music composed for American films, including “Zorro,” “Phantom of the Opera” and several Walt Disney movies. The band will also perform several patriotic numbers, including “America the Beautiful,” and marches by John Philip Sousa

First formed in 2008, the Vance-Granville Community Band has grown to approximately 50 members, including people from all four counties of the VGCC service area (Vance, Granville, Warren and Franklin) and beyond. For more information, call Jason Pulley at (252) 213-1826.
