I have in my hands 2 adult tickets to Christmas With The Embers, Friday December 7th, 2012. The show starts at 7:00pm at the Vance Granville Community College Civic Center. Tickets are normally $10.00 per adult.
The contest starts right now, which is Friday, November 30th about 6:00pm and runs until Wednesday, December 5th at 10:00am.
To enter, make a comment on THIS ARTICLE with an upcoming holiday event in the Henderson area. We need the who, what, when, where and why for example:
Second Baptist Church of North Carolina
Christmas Play “He Is King” on December 15th, 2012. Starts at 5:00pm
Admission is free, contact the church at 252-123-1234
Donations accepted, to benefit youth ministry.
I just completely made all that up, but you get the idea. We need all the events you know about. Now, you can’t post the same event someone else posted! If you do, only the first entrant will count! Let’s get out of the way events that we already know about: Henderson Christmas Parade, Sunday Dec 2nd, and the Embers show December 7th, so you can’t use them to enter!
Give as much detail as possible so the public can learn about the event, and we will also use it to fill our calendar.
Check back and find out local events you may want to attend!
Enjoy, and take care all.
Editor, thank you for the opportunity to announce our winter solstice event.
The Druid community of Vance County will again be hosting our annual winter solstice celebration.
Our celebration of this annual event will begin before first light on December 21, and continue past sunset on December 21. As a reminder, this year earth shifts direction at 06:11 local time on December 21.
The celebration of the solstice started long before written languages thus many original practices are lost on the wind. To compensate for those lost practices we merged the foods, drinks, music, dance, and rituals of the Celtic and the Norse traditional life into our celebration of this annual event.
We are located in the mythical community of Druidtry near the community commonly called Drewry. Torch lights will guide you to the festivities.
We are open to all who wish to celebrate the annual grand event of the Winter Solstice.

Community Band Holiday Concert
The First United Methodist Church located at Garnet and Church Streets will be having their annual Live Nativity Scene. The public, whether walking or driving by, are welcome to stop and enjoy. I am unsure but usually on the last night, Christmas Eve, there is an open Communion Service for ALL people. Enjoy!
Well, Out In Left Field, looked like you were going to be the winner by default, but we have some actual entries listed now. If you’d like to be entered, please submit a real event, otherwise it looks like Swampy and Mr Mojo Risin have a 50/50 chance to win it!
All others, there’s still time to enter. We need to know about local stuff so we can post it. If we don’t know about it, we can’t post it!
One would think every church in town would have posted a notice of their event. I am please that two actual events have a better chance of winning than I.
I don’t think we’ve ever had a contest that could be chosen by a coin flip, but here goes. Mr Mojo Risin, you’ll be heads, Swampy you’ll be tails. And the quarter is in the air.. tails it is.
Congratulations Swampy, you’re the winner of 2 tickets to Christmas with the Embers this friday night. Please check your email address for instructions on picking them up!
Thanks all!
Congratulations Swampy on your winnings. Enjoy the show.
From Swampy: Phil, I have been called out of town unexpectedly Friday. Please accept my sincere thanks and pas the tickets on to second place. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
So… Mr Mojo Risin, they’re yours if you want them, come get your tickets!
Swampy, congratulations of the winning the tickets…..it is a bummer you cannot make the show. Thank you for affording me the opportunity. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Swampy!
Everyone please try and make the Community Band’s concert tomorrow night. It will be a great time!
Music two nights in a row at VGCC…..cool!
