Louisburg College’s JPAC Presents Stunning Lineup for 2013-14

LOUISBURG, N.C.—Tickets are now on sale for the 56th season of the Allen de Hart Concert Series, annually presented by Louisburg College’s Seby B. Jones Peforming Arts Center (JPAC). This season will feature a wide variety of performances ranging from classic pop and soul hits to comedy and beach music.

On Friday, September 20, the season kicks off with Mary Wilson of The Supremes. While Ms. Wilson is best known as a founding member of the world’s most famous female trio—they recorded 12 No.1 hits from 1964 to 1969—the legendary singer’s career did not stop there, and she continues to perform with the same passion today.

The beloved host of a long-running comedy special on PBS, piano-playing political satirist Mark Russell will be bringing the laughs on Friday, October 11 as he regales the JPAC audience with material ripped straight from today’s headlines.

On Saturday, November 9, B.J. Thomas will be performing his many hits in pop, country, and gospel music created over an incredible career stretching back over half a century. The five-time Grammy winner and two-time Dove Award winner has sold more than 70 million records, and is ranked among Billboard’s Top 50 most-played artists over the past 50 years.

North Carolina’s “Official Ambassadors of Music,” beach music masters The Embers will bring their unique Christmas show to the JPAC on Saturday, December 7. Concert-goers are encouraged to gather at 7pm in the JPAC’s Holt Lobby for the traditional pre-concert Christmas tree lighting; free holiday refreshments will be served during intermission.

Friday, February 14 promises to be a night of great music, memories and romance as The Lettermen return to the JPAC for Valentine’s Day, recreating their hits such as “Put Your Head on My Shoulder,” “When I Fall in Love,” and “Theme from a Summer Place.” 18 gold albums, scores of top singles, and more than 10,000 sold-out shows attest to their popularity that has endured through several generations.

On Thursday, March 13, the Celtic Tenors will bring a combination of skill, range, and ability of world-class tenors with the personality and fun of genuine performers. The Celtic Tenors have broken new ground by adding a more contemporary edge to their classical roots, leading to a polished international reputation and just over a million album sales.

Multiple Grammy Award-winning singer Rita Coolidge has enjoyed numerous hits in pop, country, adult contemporary, and jazz styles, and will be performing from her repertoire of classics on Friday, April 25. Coolidge topped the charts in the ’70s and ’80s with “Fever,” “We’re All Alone,” “One Fine Day,” “(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher & Higher,” and “The Way You Do The Things You Do.”
