Vance-Granville Community Band seeks Musicians

The all-volunteer Vance-Granville Community Band is looking for new members.

Since it was first formed in 2008, the community band has included Vance-Granville Community College students, local high school students, educators, and interested citizens from all four counties of the college’s service area (Vance, Granville, Warren and Franklin) and beyond. The band is directed by VGCC music instructor Ivory Brock.

“This is a chance to have a good time, to learn, to enjoy fellowship with your fellow band members, and to put your musical talent to good use,” said Carl Cantaluppi of Butner, who has played clarinet in the band for many years. “If you have an interest in playing a musical instrument or if you have an instrument that you haven’t played for a while, you are welcome to come and practice with us. There are no auditions required!”

People who want to join the band are encouraged to contact Carl Cantaluppi at carl1954@hotmail.com.

The band meets to rehearse every Monday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. in the Civic Center on VGCC’s Main Campus near Henderson.  The band plays a wide variety of types of music and in a variety of area venues, including the Civic Center, with several concerts scheduled throughout the year. The ensemble will perform on Thursday, September 26 at 7 p.m. at the Armory Civic Center in Warrenton as part of “Business & Music After Hours,” a program of the Chamber of Commerce of Warren County and the Lake Gaston Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center.
