Tuesday night, Henderson Mayor Pete O’Geary officiated a celebration in First Methodist Church. Invocation by Pastor Randy Mann, Christmas carols were sung by the Central Worship Choir, the Work in Progress Choir and a solo by Mr. Andy Dickerson and a Scripture Reading by Pastor Brenda Peace-Jenkins. Normally held outside the church by Henderson’s Veteran Square, the ceremony was moved inside. Regardless, the tree is now lit on Garnett Street, Snowflakes are lit along downtown as well. Businesses have started showcasing holiday displays, competing for a prize this year sponsored by the Henderson Vance Downtown Development Commission.
