VGCC to host Gospel Celebration on Feb. 6


In honor of Black History Month, Vance-Granville Community College will hold a Gospel Celebration on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the Civic Center on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Among the entertainers and groups set to perform during the program are the White Rock Missionary Baptist Church Mime Ministry of Oxford; the “In Him We Move” dance ministry, also from White Rock Missionary Baptist Church; the Henderson-based Community Mass Choir; the South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church Choir; saxophonist and singer Nicholas Tucker of Wilson; and Durham-based 100 Men in Black.

The event is sponsored by the VGCC Division of Business and Applied Technologies. “Not only are we celebrating Black History Month through this special event, but we are also trying to bring the community and the college together in a spirit of fellowship,” said Steven Hargrove, VGCC Department Chair of Public Services.
