Battleship North Carolina receives $500,000 for engineering and permitting
Governor Pat McCrory announced last week that $500,000 from the Office of State Budget and Management’s Repair and Renovation Contingency Reserve has been allocated to the Battleship North Carolina, the state’s World War II memorial in Wilmington, to repair its hull. “Our administration values the wealth of North Carolina history that hinges upon the upkeep and support of the Battleship North Carolina,” said Gov. Museum Life + Science announces $3.9 million expansion plans
The Museum of Life and Science in Durham has announced plans for a $3.9 million expansion to build two new outdoor learning environments on the Museum’s 84-acre campus. “Hideaway Woods,” opening in Summer 2015, will have tree house villages, living twig and sapling structures, and play space especially for visitors ages 18 months-5 years. “Earth Moves,” slated to open in 2016, will immerse visitors in Earth sciences with a large scale digger pit, earthquake platform and free-standing waterfall.
ACC football title game stays in Charlotte for 6 more years
The Atlantic Coast Conference football championship game is staying in Charlotte. The ACC commissioner announced that the conference and the Charlotte Sports Foundation have reached an agreement on a six-year contract extension that will keep the football championship game in Charlotte through 2019. Belgian Furniture Company to Bring 113 Manufacturing Jobs to High Point
Governor Pat McCrory and N.C. Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced Feb. 19 that BuzziSpace Inc. will locate its North American manufacturing headquarters in Guilford County. The furniture company plans to create 113 jobs and invest more than $1.75 million during the next five years in High Point.
