Local musicians invited to join Vance-Granville Community Band

The all-volunteer Vance-Granville Community Band has started rehearsals again for the 2014 year and is inviting interested musicians of all ages to become new members.

Since it was first formed in 2008, the community band has included Vance-Granville Community College students, local high school students, educators, and interested citizens from all four counties of the college’s service area (Vance, Granville, Warren and Franklin) and beyond. The band is directed by VGCC music instructor Ivory Brock.

No auditions are required. Anyone interested in participating should bring his or her instrument to a band rehearsal and will be assigned a part. The band meets to rehearse every Monday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. in the Civic Center on VGCC’s Main Campus near Henderson.  The band plays a wide variety of types of music and in a variety of area venues. The ensemble is currently preparing for a Spring Concert, to be held on April 11 at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center.
