Second Arrest Made in BP Station Robbery and Shooting

On Thursday, March 27, 2014, members of the Henderson Police Department and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation arrested a second individual in regards to this matter. Marvin Hargrove Jr., 25, 123 S. Cooper Drive, Henderson was charged with one count of first degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and one count of second degree kidnapping. Hargrove surrendered himself to officers at the Henderson Police Department. Hargrove has been placed in the Vance County Jail without privilege of bond pending a hearing in Vance County District Court on March 31, 2014.

Previous Update: 

After a multijurisdictional investigation involving the Henderson Police Department, Vance County Sheriff’s Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Daiquan Jameek Waddell, 18, 1828 S. Clearview Drive, Henderson has been arrested.

Waddell has been charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon in regards to the robbery reported at the Raleigh Road Convient Mart on March 11, 2014.

A second count of robbery with a dangerous weapon was charged in regards to a robbery reported at the Waffle House, 942 W. Andrews Avenue, Henderson on March 13, 2014.

A third count of robbery with a dangerous weapon was charged in regards to a robbery reported at the Waffle House, 942 W. Andrews Avenue, Henderson on March 18, 2014.

In addition to the above charges, Waddell has been charged with one count of first degree murder, one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon, and one count of second degree kidnapping. These charges stem from the shooting death of Ahamed Shahit at the BP station located at 615 Raleigh Road in Henderson. Waddell was placed in the Vance County Jail without privilege of bond pending a preliminary hearing in Vance County District Court.

Original Story: 

On Monday, March 24, 2014, members of the Henderson Police Department responded to the BP station located at 615 Raleigh Road in Henderson. When officers arrived, they found the store clerk Ahmed Shahit, 55, 1259 Nicholas Street, Henderson suffering from a gunshot wound. Shahit was pronounced deceased while on scene.

The investigation has revealed that two black males entered the store and demanded cash. The first suspect was approximately 5’8” and the second was approximately 5’4”. The suspects were believed to have left the store on foot.

The investigation into this matter is being conducted by the Henderson Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Crime Stoppers will pay rewards of up to 2,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals involved in criminal activity.
