Louisburg College & Vance-Granville Community College to Offer Free Grant Writing Workshop


LOUISBURG, N.C.—Vance-Granville Community College’s Small Business Center and Louisburg College’s Tar River Center for History and Culture will host a free grant writing workshop on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, from 9am to 12pm. The workshop will take place in the Multi-Purpose Room of Vance-Granville Community College’s Franklin Campus, located on Highway 56 west of Louisburg.

An excellent seminar for nonprofit organizations, workshop topics will include the elements of a grant proposal, how to be prepared as an organization, and how to research and build relationships with funders.

The workshop will be presented by Karen Kennedy, community development manager for the Sanford/Lee County Community Development Department in Sanford, N.C. A graduate of Elon College with an MPA from Central Michigan University, Kennedy’s areas of work have included neighborhood revitalization, affordable housing, downtown revitalization, grant writing and grants administration. She has served as a board member of Brick Capital CDC, the North Carolina Community Development Association, and the Division of Community Assistance’s CD Partners Group.
