On Thursday, May 1, 2014 members of the Henderson Police Department Special Operations Division executed a search warrant at 999 B Water Street, Henderson. Two individuals were arrested as a result of this search:
Vincent Antwan Hicks, 25 of that address was charged with the following crimes: Possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver cocaine; Possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana; Possession of drug paraphernalia; Manufacture cocaine; Manufacture marijuana; Maintaining a dwelling for keeping controlled substance; Possession of a stolen firearm; Simple possession of hydrocodone; Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Hicks was released from custody after posting a 90,000.00 secured bond. Hicks is scheduled to appear in Vance County District Court on May 13, 2014.
Jakema Jones, also of the same address was charged with the following charges: Possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver cocaine; Possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana; Possession of drug paraphernalia; Manufacture cocaine; Manufacture marijuana; Maintaining a dwelling for keeping a controlled substance; Possession of a stolen firearm; Simple possession of hydrocodone. Jones was released from custody after posting a 75,000.00 secured bond. Jones is also scheduled to appear in Vance County District Court on May 13, 2014.
Is it not true that a convicted felon caught with a firearm gets a minimum 5 year prison sentence for that charge? I have heard that from people in the past but I don’t see it in sentencing. Is that just federal or what?
Good question. I also thought felons who were caught with firearms would go to prison but I don’t recall how long.
