Rural Center Grant – Deadlines Fast Approaching

The N.C. Division of Water Infrastructure has organized two how-to-apply classes for the next round of its CDBG infrastructure program. The classes are:

1 p.m. Friday, July 25, Kinston Public Works Building, at 2360 US Highway 258 South, Kinston.

10 a.m., Monday, July 28, Old Rock School’s Waldensian Room, at 400 W. Main St., Valdese.

To register for either class, please email grants coordinator Stacey Starkey, stacey.starkey@ncdenr.gov. Final grant applications are due September 2.

U.S. Economic Development Administration

The U.S. Economic Development Administration’s next grant deadline for projects under the Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance programs is October 17.  These programs are designed to provide resources to help communities access needed public infrastructure (water, sewer, access roads, incubators, workforce training centers, etc.) that will enable committed private beneficiaries to create jobs.

Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Partnership

The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Partnership offers matching grants to provide and leverage funding for innovative projects across the region which preserve, protect, and promote the rich historical, cultural, and natural heritage of Western North Carolina while stimulating economic opportunity.

Grants are available for the preservation, interpretation, development, and promotion of heritage resources in five thematic areas: agricultural heritage, Cherokee heritage, craft heritage, music heritage and natural heritage.

Application deadline for the next grant cycle is October 1.

2014. N.C. Rural Assembly

Mark your calendars! The 2014 N.C. Rural Assembly will be held October 30 in Raleigh. Make plans now to join us as the Rural Center delivers a new strategic action plan for addressing the future of rural economic development.
