Dr. Stelfanie Williams, the president of Vance-Granville Community College, and her family have established a new scholarship to help students continue their education.
In awarding the Keith and Stelfanie Williams Family Scholarship, preference will be given to students who first came to VGCC for an Adult High School Diploma or High School Equivalency diploma, and then enrolled in a curriculum program at the college to earn a certificate, diploma or degree. The college offers more than 40 curriculum options to prepare students for a variety of careers or for additional higher education, in addition to adult and continuing education programs.
Williams became the sixth president of Vance-Granville Community College on February 1, 2012.
“Dr. Williams is a passionate advocate for student success, as well as a strong leader for our Endowment Fund,” said Eddie Ferguson, the college’s endowment director. “This new scholarship demonstrates her family’s commitment to educating, inspiring and supporting our diverse community of learners.” The new scholarship will be endowed at the Presidential Merit Award level.
“Vance-Granville makes education accessible for all students, whether they are completing high school, entering the workforce or seeking to transfer to a four-year university,” Dr. Williams said. “It is imperative that we encourage and support all of our students in their lifelong learning pursuits.”
Through the Endowment Fund, VGCC has awarded more than 7,000 scholarships to students since 1982. Scholarships have been endowed by numerous individuals, industries, businesses, civic groups, churches and the college’s faculty and staff. For more information, call (252) 738-3409.
