Wednesday Open Line

Each morning, millions of Americans exhale the traditional weary sighs, as the alarm goes off and they have to face the ever-lengthening round-trip commute to work. However, a small but growing number of people are not in that situation–and that’s why this is National Work From Home Week. Available mostly to so-called white-collar occupations, employers all over the country have found that technology has enabled grateful and motivated employees to perform necessary work without their physical presence in an office setting. There are more than 146 million workers in the U S. Nationally, nearly 10 percent worked at least one day per week at home. A fortunate 4.3 percent, about half self-employed, do all their work in their homes.
