I wonder if any administration decided to show up to the football event since they don’t seem to care too much about NVHS Soccer?
You can bash my comments if you wish but I still stand behind the FACTS that NVHS,SVHS, & WEBB aren’t doing too good on Friday Nights. Anyone have any suggestions or answers as to why? I have one…..go ahead and get your arrows ready to shoot it down…..I think it’s WAY PAST TIME to get some new Coaches w/o ties to the area and who don’t owe any parents favors and will play the best players at every position regardless of who there parent(s) are. Just my 2 cents but it seems to work in every other High School Athletic Program across North Carolina.
How many games has SVHS won? Answer-ZERO
How many games has NVHS won? Answer-1(vs.SVHS)
How many games has Webb won? Answer-2
It’s funny too hear a Coach make the comment that “we played pretty much even with them in the 2nd half”. Well anyone who has attended any of the games knows that the other teams are up by 30-40 points in most instances in the 1st half and are playing 2nd & 3rd string players in the 2nd half so playing “pretty much even w/them in the 2nd half” isn’t something to be proud of.
Get rid of the Good Ole’ Boy Network and get some new fresh coaches around this area and let them have a chance!!! What’s the worst thing that can happen? They lose? Sorry but that is already taking place at a very alarming rate!!!
There it is……..Take Aim!!!!
Beware the good old boy network when the County Commissioners select a new County Manager
Elmwood may be right. We will know the “good old boy network” is alive and well if it is the guy handed down through the Pegram, Oxendine tree. The worse things are here, the more they remain the same. National search….yeah right.
It will be talked about as if they are doing a national search but when all the smoke clears it will be one of the Good Ole’ Boys who get both the city and county managers positions. Watch and see!!! Henderson/Vance area will continue to be the laughingstock of the counties that surround it simply b/c it has too many elected officials who don’t have the ability to lead the area into prosperity. How sad your area has become and the voters in Vance County SHOULD NOT COMPLAIN b/c they continue to elect the same ole’ farts into office. Some are notorious tax deadbeats and others are for lack of a better word………not clicking on all cylinders!!! Keep electing them and you will continue to be the armpit of the Tri-County area!!!
Who do you think will win the Sheriff’s Election? I hear the Church vans are already filling up the vans so that they can get the voters to the polls. I guess that’s one time of the year you will see Sheriff White out in pulbic!!! Time for him to go to……..even though I don’t think Hobgood is the person for the job either!!!
Also, lets watch and see who wins the Register of Deeds position.
Vance County needs an experienced leader with a proven track record as a County Manager. This individual should have no ties to Vance County. The rumors persist around the courthouse is that we will get an individual with no experience as a County Manager, but ties through marriage to the Pegram-Oxendine family. If this happens, the citizens of Vance County might as well surrender. What have we done to deserve this treatment? We are indeed the laughing stock of North Carolina.
The ‘good old boy network’ has been working overtime since the public disclosure of a $379,000 embezzlement scheme that probably triggered the county manager’s announced intentions to retire.
The Board of Commissioners took no action to remove the county manager pending nor following the announcement of an embezzlement scheme that was aided by either poor or incompetent management of accounting practices and system controls. Not one commissioner has spoken publically of their objection to paying the county manager for five more months after learning he failed for seven years to execute his fiduciary responsibilities to the taxpayers.
The depth and power of the old boy network was never more evident than when they blatantly gave one of their own the sole discretion to develop the criteria for the new county manager. Now behind closed doors through emails and phone calls the old boy network is vetting the next county manager. And by the public’s apathy along with the media’s silence on the whole sticking mess assures that old boy network they are large and in charge.
