M. R. Williams, Inc. To Expand at Current Location

Mr. Tom Church, Chair of the Henderson-Vance County Economic Development Commission, is pleased to announce that M. R. Williams, Inc. will be adding approximately 74,000 square feet of dry warehouse space and approximately 8,200 square feet of refrigerated space to its current facility at 235 Raleigh Rd. here in Henderson. Mike Williams, founder and Chairman of the company, said the cost of this project will be in excess of 5 million dollars and almost double the size of its present facility.
The Economic Development Commission would like to thank both the Vance County Board of Commissioners and the Henderson City Council for each agreeing to provide the Economic Development Incentive Grants to the company for a period of 5 years.

The grants will allow retention of at least 200 full time jobs and provide significant growth opportunity for the company, thus encouraging additional job creation and training in sales, distribution, and warehouse management.

M. R. Williams, Inc. began operations at its present Henderson location in April, 1976 and now being run by the second generation of family members with Lawson Williams as its President and son-in-law Rohan Rudolph managing its Novelty division. Mike Williams stated, “This expansion will allow our company to not only retain its presence in Henderson and Vance County, but will also allow us to grow our company to meet the needs of our customers.”

Deborah Brown, Chair of the Vance County Board of Commissioners, thanked the company for their continued support of the local economy. Brown noted that this agreement hopefully ensures their presence for years to come.

Mayor Pete O’Geary expressed his appreciation for all the company has provided to the community in the past and welcomes this opportunity to respond to the needs of an existing industry and a valued member of the City’s corporate community.
