IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

No school for students in pre-kindergarten classes on Friday due to all-day staff development for staff members.

 

 

Reading Rally for all third graders and their teachers at 9 a.m. on Friday at The Skateeum on Coble Boulevard in Henderson.

 

SCHOOL EVENTS FOR THIS WEEK

 

Aycock Elementary: (Monday, November 17) – Fall picture retakes

 

Dabney Elementary: (Monday, November 17) – Faculty meeting at 3:15 p.m.

 

Zeb Vance Elementary: (Monday, November 17) – Candy Man Main Event at 8:30 a.m. and limousine ride at 9:30 a.m.

 

Aycock Elementary: (Tuesday, November 18) – All second graders participate in “Save Our Kids” water safety classes in the afternoon at the Aycock Recreation Center.

 

Carver Elementary: (Tuesday, November 18) – Fall picture makeups and Optimist Club Awards assembly at 12 p.m.

 

Clarke Elementary: (Tuesday, November 18) – VGCC faculty members lead science presentations in fourth and fifth-grade classrooms

 

L.B. Yancey Elementary: (Tuesday, November 18) – Fall make-up pictures taken. Staff development in the afternoon on “How to Use Data to Drive Instruction.”

 

E.O. Young Jr. Elementary: (Tuesday, November 18) – Girls on the Run session 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.

 

Zeb Vance Elementary: (Tuesday, November 18) – Girls on the Run session 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.

 

Aycock Elementary: (Wednesday, November 19) – Girls on the Run session 3 to 4:15 p.m.

 

New Hope Elementary: (Wednesday, November 19) – Dr. Cornelius Cathcart leads presentation on ADHD for parents at 6 p.m.

 

Aycock Elementary: (Thursday, November 20) – Book Fair ends. All second graders participate in “Save Our Kids” water safety classes in the afternoon at the Aycock Recreation Center. Girls on the Run session 3 to 4:15 p.m.

 

Carver Elementary: (Thursday, November 20) – Club Day for kindergarten through second grade

 

Dabney Elementary: (Thursday, November 20) – Rocketeer Awards program

 

E.O. Young Jr. Elementary: (Thursday, November 20) – Thanksgiving Feast atlunch. Girls on the Run session 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.

 

Zeb Vance Elementary: (Thursday, November 20) – Girls on the Run session 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Parenting class with counselor Valerie Hairston from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on “Dealing with Grief and Loss.”

 

Dabney Elementary: (Friday, November 21) – Candy Man Main Event

 

UPCOMING SCHOOL EVENTS

 

Monday, November 24: Fourth-grade field trip to Marbles Museum in Raleigh at Aycock Elementary. Third graders who have met AR goals go swimming at the Aycock Recreation Center at 1 p.m.

 

Tuesday, November 25: Optimist Club Attend & Win and Read & Win recognitions at 12 p.m. at Aycock Elementary. Ronald McDonald assembly at 1 p.m. for all students.

 

Tuesday, November 25: SSMT referral meeting at L.B. Yancey Elementary.

 

Wednesday, November 26: Teacher workday. No school for students.

 

Thursday, November 27-Friday, November 28: Thanksgiving holidays. All schools and school system offices are closed.

 

Wednesday, December 3: Interim Progress Reports distributed
